Artist Alley

See the Balticon Chair’s message regarding COVID-19.

In Balticon’s Artist Alley, artists meet the public and interact with their fans. It is a place to demonstrate your artistic techniques and sell your original art, originals and prints, across the science fiction, fantasy, horror, and fandom genres.

ARTISTS

Artist Alley sign-up is suspended due to the uncertainty regarding COVID-19.

To register for Artist Alley, first create a new account in the Vendor Portal The Vendor Portal is designed to handle registrations for Artist Alley and Dealer Room.

Once the account has been created, artists will be able to input their information into their profile. Tables are curated so that we can offer fans a wide range of talented artists’ works, so please include a URL for your web site, Etsy/online shop, or other location where we can preview your art. If you don’t have an online presence, you can send photos of your art to artistalley@balticon.org. If your request is approved, you will receive notification and be directed to complete your registration. We will start notifying artists in early March, but if you haven’t heard from us by March 22, please contact us to find out if you have been accepted.

Tables are 6’x30”, and artists can register for one or two tables. Registration is for the entire weekend: there are no single day/partial day tables available. A Balticon membership is required to participate in Artist Alley, and artists can purchase a discounted membership during the registration process.

There are a few tables near an electrical outlet, and we do our best to honor requests for electricity, but we cannot guarantee it.

We encourage artists to do demos or make art at their tables during the convention.

Artist Alley is located in open public space, and cannot be secured. Artists are responsible for their art and other possessions, and must remove everything from their space, or secure it in some way, when they leave each day. During Artist Alley hours, we can provide a volunteer to watch your space so you can take a meal break. Balticon is not responsible for items lost or stolen from Artist Alley.

Artists are also responsible for making their own sales, and will be required to provide a tax ID if they have one. Contact artistalley@balticon.org if you do not have one.

If you wish to exhibit your art but cannot be present at the table during the entire time, please consider registering for the Art Show. If you have art that you’d like to exhibit in the Art Show, and you want to participate in Artist Alley, please consider registering for both.
