< Back Lisa Ashton Costuming Costumer Lisa Ashton is a master division costumer for whom Balticon is home. From Isis in "Magic of the Ancients", Rainbows & Unicorns, alien brides, Bad Harem Day, Urban Legends, a Tequila Sunrise, Kali and various pirates, to the "Sweet Sixteens", as well as 2019's BIS "Mystic Legacy" (with Alanna Whitestar), her Balticon masquerade costumes have been many and varied. She also is a quilter and beader, and restores antique parasols, quilts and Victorian clothing. She is the Founder of Miss Lizzy's Traveling Historical Fashion Show, a 501 (3)(c) organization. In 2016 she was awarded the ICG "Lifetime Achievement Award" at Costume Con. Teaching beadwork, costuming and sewing techniques is another part of her Balticon experience. < Back Christiane Knight Literary Author Christiane Knight [she/they] is an artist, musician, writer, and author of the contemporary fantasy series Stories of the Eleriannan. Her most recent book is A Third Kind of Madness. A former club and FM radio DJ, Xiane’s love of dark subculture and music infuses their work. They write hopeful, magical stories often set in the Fae infused version of their already quirky hometown, Baltimore MD. She is a lifelong enthusiast of faerie, folktales, forests and fauna, especially combined in copious amounts with all-black clothing and some Joy Division or Bauhaus playing in the headphones. Nydam has been celebrating worlds both real and imaginary since she could hold a crayon, bringing them to life in both art and writing. She makes relief block prints glorifying wonders all around, and writes and illustrates books, short stories, and poems about adventure, creativity, and finding sometimes unexpected joy. < Back Micaiah Johnson Literary Author Micaiah Johnson’s novel The Space Between Worlds is the winner of the 2021 Compton Crook Award. Micaiah was raised in California’s Mojave Desert surrounded by trees named Joshua and women who told stories. She received her Bachelor of Arts in creative writing from the University of California, Riverside, and her Master of Fine Arts in fiction from Rutgers University–Camden. Her debut novel, The Space Between Worlds, from Hodder in the UK and Crown in the US, was a Sunday Times best seller, New York Times Editor's Choice, Goodreads Best Science Fiction of 2020 finalist, and listed as listed as one of NPR's Best Books of the Last Decade, as well as Best Book of 2020.
