The masquerade is on FRIDAY NIGHT

To paraphrase our Master of Ceremonies, Marty Gear:

"Velcome to the Balticon Masquerade."

The Masquerade will be held on FRIDAY, March 28th, 1997 beginning at 9PM. Balticon's Masquerade is one of the oldest on the east coast, and is an opportunity for everyone who loves making costumes to show off. We don't care if this is your first costume or your fifty-first - you're welcome to compete against others who are at your level of experience. Sometimes a beginner goes home with the "Best In Show"!

By the way, did we mention that the Masquerade will be held on Friday this year, not Saturday?

The Balticon Masquerade is a chance for anyone who loves making costumes to show off at the "grand-daddy" of east coast masquerades. We don't care if this is your first costume or your fifty-first - you're welcome to compete against others who are at your level of experience. Even a beginner can go home with the "Best In Show"!

We originated and maintain many "goodies" that costumers hope for - good lighting and sound by Technofandom and friends, a well-run greenroom, appreciative audiences, and an M/C who likes and respects the contestants. For those costumers who specialize in handwork attention to detail, or both, there is optional Workmanship judging with separate awards. As usual, our regular judging panel will include knowledgeable costumers and enthusiastic pros.

Here are the Masquerade rules.

For more information, or to be put on the mailing list for the masquerade, check the appropriate box on the Balticon Registration form, or send an E-mail message (include "masquerade" in the subject line) to masq@balticon.org.
